Pulse in cumbria

Alongside composer Kirsty Devaney and producer Sophia McNeill, Jack leads on the new creative composition and performance course Pulse, in Cumbria. With additional support from the Cumbria Music Hub and Lakes Alive, Pulse has kicked off with an exciting new commission for clarinet/bass clarinet and live electronics with flexible orchestra! Working alongside both the Westmorland Youth Orchestra and the Cumbria Youth Orchestra in sessions exploring improvisation and group devising in order to write a piece that really belongs to both groups. Performances in 2020 are on the June 20th (WYO) and July 6th (CYO).

From September 2020 Pulse will go residential, news on how to get involved and support the project coming soon…

In addition to Pulse and directing the chamber music strand of Aldeburgh Young Musicians, Jack has mentored on leading education projects with BBC Inspire Lab, BCMG, Britten Sinfonia Academy and the Young Composers Project.

Jack has been the clarinet tutor and ensemble coach at University of Birmingham since September ‘14, he also directs the new Creative Exchange there as of September ‘19 - a new project for musicians, writers and performers interested in diverse collaborations.
